Understanding User Roles & Permissions
Last updated February 18, 2025
Why User Roles Matter
In a SaaS environment, different users need different levels of access. Assigning roles properly ensures security, prevents accidental changes, and keeps operations smooth.
Available User Roles & Access Levels
Most SaaS platforms offer role-based access control (RBAC). Here’s a breakdown:
| Role | Permissions |
| Owner | Full control, billing, and account management. |
| Admin | Manage team members, settings, and integrations. |
| Editor | Modify content and settings but no billing access. |
| Viewer | Read-only access to reports, dashboards, and files. |
How to Assign or Change Roles
- Go to Settings > Team Management.
- Select a user from the list.
- Click "Edit Role", choose the appropriate level, and save changes.
Note: Changes take effect immediately. Admins cannot modify owner-level permissions.
Restricting Access to Sensitive Information
For additional security, you can:
✔ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for critical roles.
✔ Restrict data exports to Admins only.
✔ Monitor activity logs to track changes made by users
